How I Work

I’m a people person, leader, and connector.

I take pride in being the link between digital product partners, business stakeholders, and most importantly the people those products serve. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll get you to the right person who does. If no one has the answer, I’ll make the plan to get it.

Systems thinker by nature, working on a sliding scale between macro and micro solutions.

I’m comfortable with multi-faceted strategic work that’s resulted in service design to inform large scale product roadmaps– and I’m just as comfortable down in the nitty gritty work that enables a 3rd party platform integration on global sites of 10M annual visitors.

Passionate user advocate that balances business goals with people’s needs.

Because after all, what’s good for people is good for business. I take a balanced approach by understanding business requirements, and marrying them to the “people requirements” we gather through research, observation and analytics. A mixed methods approach is always ideal, and I’m a firm believer that there are always creative opportunities to make products more people centered.

Empath at heart, team player by practice, designer by study, researcher by trade.

Born into a larger-than-life Greek family taught me to read emotions before I could talk! A life of playing team sports and leading them taught me how my role fits into something much bigger than me. My time studying communication design and systems thinking taught me that why we say or make something must come way before the “what”. Being ever curious and questioning “just the way things are” means that I’ll never be satisfied with something that doesn’t work for people. There’s always a better way.

At the center of my experience is the mission to understand & help people: to make their world a little easier, and hopefully a little happier while I’m at it.

Research Methods

I generally take a mixed methods approach to research, depending on scope and timeline of the objectives, specializing in qualitative work.

I believe in asking the right questions at the right points in time.

I have 7 years of in-house experience using the following:

Qualitative: moderated 1x1 in-depth interviews (remote through UserZoom, WebEx, Teams or other conferencing software), in-person ethnographic studies (note take, fly-on-wall, record, pictures, in-context observation), unmoderated usability testing (UserZoom, UsabilityHub), heuristic evaluations, user acceptance testing, preference testing and click testing (UserZoom, UsabilityHub), feedback sentiment analysis (Medallia), workshop facilitation (in person, or remote through Miro), and am grounded in human-centered design principles (HCD) and approach problems, research and analysis using a wide variety of methods like affinity clustering and diagramming, service design and blueprinting, rainbow attribute analysis (the "rainbow spreadsheet") and using transcriptions and Rose, Thorn, Bud (positives, negatives, opportunities) to code qualitative data and pull insights from findings.

Quantitative: survey design and analysis (Verint, SurveyMonkey, Forms, email), card sorting (Optimal workshop), feedback data analysis (Medallia, Excel, PowerBI), liekert scales / ranking / sliding scale metric analysis (Verint, UserZoom, Forms exported data), click testing (UsabilityHub, UserZoom), NPS / OSAT / CES satisfaction metric analysis (Medallia), and cross referencing and forecasting analysis based on analytical data like conversion rates, revenue, abandonment, average order value, add to cart frequency and customer service call center volume trend analysis (Adobe Analytics downloads) when projects request and provide such data.
